Hello Sparkly Friends!

If you’ve been following me on my other social media channels, you know that we’ve been giving our businesses a big warm bear hug by embracing all things new – including (and especially) setting new goals. Goal setting and goal achievement are not only a big part of your business – they should be a big part of your every day life as well. And, by the time I get done with you, those goals will be SOLID, my friends!

When you think about goal setting it’s SO MUCH MORE than just making a bucket list of items to check off by December 31st. Dig deeper, my friends. Goal setting requires getting to the root of your WHY. I’m going to be 100% honest…I have a lot of squirrel moments and goal setting with a distinct purpose helps keep me on track.

Let’s get past the surface of goal setting by asking a few questions:

  1. What do you want your life to look like in one year?  How about in five years?  Ten years?
  2. What do you want to be doing on a daily basis?
  3. What do you want your business to look like?

These questions, while they might feel like the stereotypical questions you’d be asked on a job interview, they really DO matter!  Having a vision for your life is like having a road map.  You know where you’re going.  You know where you’re headed.  Without a map…. you’re just wandering.

Once you think about these things ask yourself “why?” BUT, you’re not just going to ask yourself why and move on. No, no, my friends.

Ask yourself “WHY?” FIVE times.

That’s right, I said five. Asking  five times will help you dig below the surface and dig your goals down to the root. Be a goal-digger, baby! Make sure your goals link back to your why, your purpose, your suffering point, AND your vision.  Yes, it’s a lot to keep in mind… but if it matters to your heart and soul, then it matters in this process.

Getting to the root of your goals helps you develop smart, amazing goals that drive your day and are in sync with your purpose and priorities in life. We’re going to talk about defining SMART goals in the next post. So, toss up those messy-buns and let’s do some homework to prep…

Want some homework? I know you do.

  1. If you haven’t already, download my sparkly workbook to guide you through this process!  {Only available in January – want it now?  Shoot me an email at Cyrissa@immersephotography.com!}
  2. Ask yourself the three questions above.  I’m serious.  Do it.
  3. Be a goal-digger. Get to the bottom of your goals and make sure they are 100% absolutely for you and supporting your mission and 10 year plan.
  4. Don’t sweat. If you don’t have your goals figured out just yet – keep working on them! You can keep going back through the goal setting workbook until you are confident that you’ve chosen well.
  5. Ask your family and friends to join you on this journey!  It can certainly be a hard one, and you don’t need to go it alone!

  1. I’m really loving your goal setting. What cool is you’re requiring more of a dig deep perspective instead of just “snorkeling around” the goal, we are going down and scuba diving! Thanks for all you do and the heart you pour into everything you teach. (that from one former teacher to another too)
